Lincoln Town Council approves $70k salary for new town manager

LINCOLN -- The Lincoln Town Council approved a $70,000 salary for Interim Town Manager Wade Shaefer, at an emergency meeting held May 18. Before the executive session was held to negotiate the contract, the council took care of other business items first.

Enfield residents pass food sovereignty and other ordinance revisions

ENFIELD -- More than 20 residents in Enfield attended a special town meeting May 13 to pass a food sovereignty ordinance, update the shoreline zones for general development, update land tables in the land use ordinance and revise the subdivision ordinance. Elizabeth Bickford, of Lincoln, was elected moderator for the meeting.

 

No major incidents, but Lincoln Fire wary of high wildfire danger levels

LINCOLN -- Lincoln Fire Capt. Jake Hammond reported to Lincoln News on Monday that the department responded to to 13 fire and 60 emergency medical service calls in the previous two weeks.

LINCOLN -- Lincoln Police Detective Steward Jacobs reported to Lincoln News that the department recorded 148 incidents in the previous two weeks.

Water main replacement project delayed to June 14

LINCOLN -- The Lincoln Water District Board of Trustees held a brief meeting May 12, where Superintendent Jeffrey Day updated trustees on the affairs of the district. Day reported that the water main replacement project on Katahdin Avenue and Spring and Grindle streets that was scheduled to start June 8 is delayed to start June 14 instead.

Millinocket Airport awarded $6.8 million for runway reconstruction

MILLINOCKET—Millinocket Municipal Airport was awarded more than $6.8 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration to go toward a project to reconstruct and extend the facility’s main runway. The award of $6,845,251 from the FAA’s fiscal year 2026 Airport Improvement Program was announced last week by U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, who helped author the funding initiative.

Millinocket fire chief placed on administrative leave

MILLINOCKET—Millinocket Fire Chief Jonathan Cote was placed on administrative leave earlier this month pending completion of an investigation into an unspecified personnel matter.

Tax value versus sales value gap widens in Medway

MEDWAY - Medway continues to struggle syncing property values versus actual sale prices. Administrative Assistant Kathy Lee said the most recent ratio declaration form for the state indicates that the town was down to 83 percent.

East School Board adopts FY27 budget

 EAST MILLINOCKET—The East Millinocket School Board unanimously passed the FY 2026 (Fiscal Year) budget at its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 12.

East selectmen finalize budgets

Stearns educators awarded grant for trip to England, Scotland
